What is SEO?

Hi guys. In this short article I’ll be telling you exactly what SEO is. Pretty basic stuff for all the newbies out there ;)

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search enginesvia ”natural” or un-paid (”organic” or ”algorithmic”) search resultsas opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion. Typically, the earlier (or higher) a site appears in the search results list, the more visitors it will receive from the search engine. SEO may target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, video search and industry-specific vertical search engines. This gives a web site web presence.

As an Internet marketing strategy, SEO considers how search engines work and what people search for. Optimizing a website primarily involves editing its content and HTML and associated coding to both increase its relevance to specific keywords and to remove barriers to the indexing activities of search engines.

The acronym ”SEO” can refer to ”search engine optimizers,” a term adopted by an industry ofconsultants who carry out optimization projects on behalf of clients, and by employees who perform SEO services in-house. Search engine optimizers may offer SEO as a stand-alone service or as a part of a broader marketing campaign. Because effective SEO may require changes to the HTMLsource code of a site, SEO tactics may be incorporated into web site development and design. The term ”search engine friendly” may be used to describe web site designs, menus, content management systems, images, videos, shopping carts, and other elements that have been optimized for the purpose of search engine exposure.

Another class of techniques, known as black hat SEO or spamdexing, use methods such as link farms, keyword stuffing and article spinning that degrade both the relevance of search results and the user-experience of search engines. Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques in order to remove them from their indices.

Getting indexed

The leading search engines, such as Google and Yahoo!, use crawlers to find pages for their algorithmic search results. Pages that are linked from other search engine indexed pages do not need to be submitted because they are found automatically. Some search engines, notably Yahoo!, operate a paid submission service that guarantee crawling for either a set fee or cost per click. Such programs usually guarantee inclusion in the database, but do not guarantee specific ranking within the search results.[29]Two major directories, the Yahoo Directory and the Open Directory Project both require manual submission and human editorial review.[30] Google offers Google Webmaster Tools, for which an XML Sitemap feed can be created and submitted for free to ensure that all pages are found, especially pages that aren’t discoverable by automatically following links.

Search engine crawlers may look at a number of different factors when crawling a site. Not every page is indexed by the search engines. Distance of pages from the root directory of a site may also be a factor in whether or not pages get crawled.

You’re actually getting paid to share your opinion.

easy money like that? That is why paid online surveys are becoming more and more popular every day.

How does it work? It’s simple stuff – You sign up with various paid research companies, fill out some profiles that give them basic information on your background and interests, and they send surveys to you that match up to your profile. So, what are the benefits of paid online surveys you may wonder? There are many, such as:

- Getting paid to voice your opinion

- Earning anywhere from $3 for a 10 minute survey to $75-$150+ for participating in a 1-2 hour focus group

- Working on your own time! You answer surveys when you feel like it. Parents can fill them out when their kids are asleep or when they are away at school. College students can fill them out in between classes or on the weekends. Heck, even kids in high school can do them for part-time income too!

No matter what way you look at it, paid online surveys can pay you big for such a small investment of your time. In order to make sure that you maximize your earnings, you should join a paid survey bank, which is a website comprised of a large database of paid research companies you can sign up with. You’ll know exactly what sites you can join, before you waste time signing up for ones you can’t!
